Majella van der Werf

Majella van der Werf has 23 years of exceptional project delivery, management and technical expertise which includes citizen security, violence reduction and Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning (MEL) as well as governance and health. She has supported stabilization related projects as Manager of the $49 million USAID Colombia Initial Governance Response Program (IGRP), which bolstered effective democratic governance and fostered the resumption of basic economic activity in newly recovered zones of Colombia; led a project aimed to mitigate the risk of HIV infection, unintended pregnancies, transactional sex, and gender-based violence among vulnerable adolescent girls in Burundi and has overseen monitoring and evaluating violence prevention projects across Central America. Ms. van der Werf has two decades of business development experience including proposal management, technical design, monitoring and evaluation, partnership and coalition building and recruitment. In 2020, she led the development of a MEL Platform in Indonesia and developed a winning first round proposal for the Google Impact Challenge for Girls on behalf of the Aspen institute. Majella has tailored project management tools and processes including for budget tracking and pipelining, work planning, MEL and grants management. She is known for solid working relationships with donors, partners and stakeholders and is committed to fostering effective, learning teams. She has effectively collaborated with USAID, the private sector and foundations on projects that have met and exceeded outcomes and is fluent in Spanish, French and Dutch. Ms. van der Werf holds a Masters in Development Studies from Erasmus University in the Hague, the Netherlands.
