Mali Kambandu

Communications professional, in the international development field and the private sector, with the experience to execute communications activities and manage programme knowledge for internal and external audiences. Mali is a media practitioner, with specialty in print media. She takes pride in learning and immersing herself in the content and knowledge of the thematic area, which makes her a well-rounded, well-informed development professional who can adapt to any programme area. Mali has worked in several thematic areas including: digital economy, digital financial services, financial inclusion, development finance – including climate finance – digital health, immunisation, public health, health supply chain, climate change and youth advocacy – including sexual reproductive health, child labour. Mali’s key skills are writing (with particular expertise in technical, feature and creative writing), training and workshop facilitation, injecting creativity and dynamic activities into the event, event management for physical and virtual events, public speaking, social media management, photography, video production, radio and podcast production, partnerships management with grant and proposal-writing expertise and protocol and diplomacy. Mali is a competent project manager with strong strategy development skills. In her career spanning over fifteen years, Mali has worked the following donors: The Gates Foundation, USAID, Government of Sweden, Mastercard Foundation, Comic Relief, Jersey Overseas Aid, Norad. Working with this range of donors has enabled Mali to become familiar with the various donor interests in international development, their branding requirements, and other aspects of their organisation and approach. Mali has five years’ experience in the UN System. She also has experience liaising with national government on programmes and events, with a focus in several African countries, particularly Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. Mali is an award-winning fiction writer, living in Zambia, who can work remotely for any country team.
