Mama Laryea (Ed.D)

I am an experienced education professional from an international development assistance environment seeking to make further contribution to global development through a role in a good development organization. I have extensive experience, over 20 years, including in a developing country, of managing donor programmes, designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating large scale projects. I am skilled in operational management, strategic planning and formulation, team management, advocacy and agency promotion including liaising between recipient government (including national, regional and district levels), schools, communities, Development Partners (DPs) and civil society groups. I adapt to changing environments, have excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiastic and open to new ideas and learning. In my role as Chief of Party (COP) for the USAID Partnership for Education: Learning (Learning) project, I, together with my team, successfully met all project deliverables, which led to the client awarding additional funding for four successive extensions of the Learning activity, resulting in the project being extended from 5 years to 9 years, and an increased budget from $71 million to $96.6 million. I hold a Doctorate in Education degree, as well as a Master’s degree in Management of Teaching and Learning. My first degree is in Information Systems. Outside of work and studies my interests and hobbies include reading, traveling, yoga and helping others; I undertook the 5k run in support of Breast Cancer UK.
