Summary

Masaka Yusufu Maganga is an experienced, registered professional engineer and environmental impact assessment expert with over 20 years of experience working on improving access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services in both rural and urban setting. Eng. Maganga has a vast knowledge of working with both public and private sector in the water sector in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. His professional experience in WASH includes working at policy review and sector strategy development level; WASH development, promotion and hand washing in schools; managing water utility organizations; operation and management of water utilities; water policy and governance; mainstreaming environmental issues into projects development and facilitating formation of public private partnerships for sustainable rural/urban water services. Eng. Maganga has an in-depth understanding of project cycle management and implementation, from policy to project design to implementation, operations and monitoring and evaluation. Eng. Maganga has a wealth of technical and engineering experience in the water sector through his role as engineer, then head engineer for water services for the Tanzanian government. In addition to his technical background, he possesses an understanding of the water sector's impact on stakeholders and beneficiaries on the ground, highlighted by his work in local and international capacity building expert as a WASH advisor for SNV and Team Leader/Resident Project Manager for VITENS EVIDES International of the Netherlands respectively. His experience working with direct beneficiaries and stakeholders has fed into his role as a Senior WASH advisor and project manager for SNV, overseeing the Public Private Partnerships Networking WASH project in the Mara region and Sustainability of rural and small towns water supply projects across the country and now Resident project Manager for the Consortium of Dutch Water Companies providing Technical Assistance project to the local water utilities of Bukoba and Musoma, backstopping the Water Operators Partnerships (WOP) projects in Arusha and Mwanza. Maganga has extensively worked with Government, Non -Government Organizations (NGOs) and various communities based programs in the three Eastern African Countries of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Moreover, Maganga has an international experiences in 9 countries these include Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Austria, German, Switzerland and state of Israel. Currently, Maganga is a Team Leader with more than ten (10) international experts working on performance improvement of Bukoba and Musoma Urban water supply and Sanitation Authorities with the main focus on Non -Revenue Water (NRW) reduction programme and country champion for Public-Private Partnership arrangement in the water sector. He is a holder of MSc.in Municipal Water and Infrastructures (with a specialization in Water services Management) and is fluent in English.
