Summary

An entrepreneurial and creative civil society specialist with 18 years of experience in the international sphere, Matthew Pietz has deep knowledge of democracy and governance programming. Currently Mr. Pietz is Chief of Party of the USAID-funded Civil Society & Media Project II in Myanmar, which works to improve laws, peace and intercommunal harmony through support to local organizations. He designed the project and its predecessor, for which he was also Chief of Party. Previously, he served as Chief of Party of USAID-funded projects in Egypt and Kosovo which focused on conflict prevention, human rights and advancing democratic reform. As Director for Civil Society at FHI 360’s headquarters, Mr. Pietz served as a thought leader on civil society support, leading a global study of civil society networks, organizing events on technology and democracy, and forging partnerships with multistate entities that engage civil society.
