With over 20 years of experience as a social science expert, I have designed and managed programs, conducted research, and monitored and evaluated projects in Senegal and other West African countries. My areas of expertise include community development, program management, capacity development, evaluations, and research, with a focus on economic growth, food security, nutrition, gender, environment, child protection, countering violent extremism, peacebuilding, and local governance and decentralization. I have had the privilege of managing several initiatives supported by reputable organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), European Commission, African Development Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UN-HABITAT, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), International Development Research Center (IDRC), the Netherlands Development Agency, and RUAF Foundation (Global Partnership on Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Food Systems). I have also led a team of international and national evaluators comprising economists, cartographers, city planners, and engineers on various evaluations. As part of my professional career, I have supported local governments, NGOs, and CBOs in designing and implementing their strategies through multi-stakeholder processes and capacity development activities such as training, coaching, and awareness raising. For example, I have helped local governments in West Africa and Kenya to integrate urban agriculture and food systems into their development plans and policies. In addition, I have designed various training materials on program design, management, strategic planning, fundraising, monitoring, evaluation, qualitative methodology research, gender mainstreaming, community child protection, urban agriculture, and food systems. I have also facilitated training sessions in Senegal and other West African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, and Niger. Furthermore, I have served in various capacities as Chief of Party/Deputy Chief of Party or Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor for USAID’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Platforms in Senegal, Mali, Ghana, and Liberia. Through these roles, I have supported USAID Missions and their implementing partners in incorporating evaluation and research findings into their strategic planning, project design, and implementation through training activities and learning events.
