Trained as an agricultural engineer, I have spent 32 ½ years with the Ministry of Agriculture between July 1983 and December 2015. In this time I served with 7 natural resources management projects, 2 construction projects and a state corporation. Although I was essentially deployed mostly as a soil and water conservation officer, I distinguished myself more in water harvesting in which I trained many officers and farmers and wrote a practical manual on the subject.
My ultimate joy was managing a water harvesting for food security project for the Ministry in 2006-2009 in which the objective was creating on-farm water storage for irrigation and through which over 100 water pans of 1000-60000 m3 were constructed by supported communities and used for vegetable production. My last assignment before early retirement was to determining scheme water requirement for Kiboi, a proposed 412 acre Irrigation Scheme currently tendered for construction in Baringo County, and working with the design engineer on designing of a gravity dam for augmenting Yeptos stream flow to meet scheme water demand.
I am married with two children both in university.
