Omar Abdalla

Omar Abdalla currently serves as the Chief of Party for the USAID Economic Governance Activity (EGA) in Egypt implemented by DAI Global. In his current role, Omar oversees complex governance and anti-corruption initiatives along with public service delivery and private sector engagement programming in support of the Government of Egypt. He is a senior governance and program management specialist with over twenty years of experience in the field of development. Omar Abdalla’s areas of expertise include program design, management, and implementation; policy reform and legislative support; strategy development; institutional support; governance programming; electoral assistance; stakeholder engagement; consensus building; procurement and awareness raising. Throughout his career, Omar has developed strategic and institutional relationships with senior officials from Egypt, Africa and across the MENA region; designed high-level capacity building programs in support of government officials and members of the judiciary; developed systems for performance tracking and assessment; led institutional restructuring; and developed monitoring and evaluation systems. Key successes in the past have included overseeing the development of national strategies that focus on governance and public administration reform; supporting innovative initiatives that improve the investment environment and attracts venture capital; supporting peaceful democratic transition in select countries leading to more stable political environments; working towards regaining the public’s trust in democratic institutions by leading high-level governance focused interventions; providing fully-fledged technical support to institutions leading to the establishment and sustainability of permanent election management bodies; conceptually designing and implementing multimillion dollar nation-wide public awareness/outreach campaigns. Omar holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a B.A in Political Science, specializing in Political Economy with a minor in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
