Summary

I am a development professional with over 40 years of experience, the majority based overseas. Beginning as a volunteer in the villages of Upper Egypt, I have always maintained a passion for locally-led development that serves the needs of the most deprived. I have dedicated my career to partnership and civil society strengthening, shaping the approaches and practices of numerous international NGOs, and providing capacity development to civil society organizations at both the local and national levels. As an independent consultant, I seek out opportunities to foster localization, social inclusion, and organizational learning. During my years with Save the Children (1999-2018), I combined my thematic and management expertise across the development-humanitarian spectrum in a range of roles from the field level to headquarters, from chief of party and country director to global functional leadership on program quality and on partnership. I have in-depth working experience across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and am fluent in English, Arabic, and French.
