Mr de Wet has almost 35 years’ experience of working on development and engineering projects and has lived and worked in Asia and Africa for more than 25 years. His track record includes many years of field experience working with project management and contract administration of complex, multidisciplinary projects. All contained elements of planning, project management, client/partner liaison, leadership, human resource development, capacity building and working with local expertise. One of his key strengths is the development, preparation and delivery of project proposals and reporting deliverables. Although his core expertise has primarily been in the rural development and feeder road sector, he has broad experience of different types of infrastructure, including in the environmental, irrigation, water and energy fields. Most of his projects incorporated cross-cutting issues such as gender, resettlement, environmental and social safeguards, as well as institutional development and capacity building through on-the-job training, working with local expertise, and the coordination and facilitation of workshops and seminars. Mr de Wet also has more than 15 years of intermittent experience of providing inputs as a Procurement Expert or Contract Management Specialist in projects and providing procurement assistance to clients and donors for goods, works and services. He is fully familiar with the procurement cycle and the general procurement guidelines of most of the major donors.
