Agricultural economist with a PhD and more than 20 years’ experience with the key organizations working on food and agriculture (USAID, IFPRI, World Bank, FAO and IFAD). Conducted evidence based and policy relevant research including through literature review, interviewing experts, analyzing data (both household survey and international datasets) as well as building international datasets. Expertise in a range of topics including: agricultural investments, government expenditures, food security and nutrition, poverty, women in agriculture, food systems, trade and markets, climate change, institutions and policy. Widely published. Lead author for a 2016 article on farm size and farmland distribution published in World Development; the article has been cited more than 2000 times. Published a follow up article in 2021 also in World Development. Have made agricultural, trade and food security policy recommendations for and presentations to intergovernmental committees, donors and heads of state.
