I am a food security and livelihoods specialist with 19 years of international experience spanning West Africa, the Balkans, East-Central Africa, South Asia, and global. I have worn many hats during my career, including in the areas of strategy development, value proposition and partnership building, proposal writing, integrated project and programme management, assessments, monitoring and evaluation, interdisciplinary research, capacity strengthening, external relations, communications, and innovation. Some highlights: • In a challenging socio-political context in the Sahel region of West Africa, I brought to fruition a unique camp-based fresh milk kitchen that was integrated into a livestock value chain project involving refugee and host communities. • I led on the proof of concept that took refugee artisans to the international market – setting the foundation for the global refugee artisan strategy and brand of the UN refugee agency. • The first ever comprehensive assessment of the national early warning system for food crises in Senegal was carried out under my leadership and a successfully funded proposal for its strengthening was done. • I designed and led the biggest social vulnerability assessment in post-war Serbia at the time – one that influenced national social policy for female-headed households, ethnic minorities, the elderly, and the internally displaced. • In my current role with the world’s largest humanitarian network organisation, I collaborate with National Red Cross Red Crescent Societies, innovation hubs, design thinking non-profits, and UN agencies to open new spaces for innovation and local action through a combination of strategic foresight and partnerships, systems thinking, and human-centered design.
