    How the financial crisis has created subtle policy changes

    Flavia Pansieri, United Nations deputy high commissioner for human rights, sat down with Devex Editor Rolf Rosenkranz at European Development Days 2013 to discuss the insidious side effects of the financial crisis and necessary changes for sustainable development.

    As a consequence of the financial crisis, key aspects of social welfare and protection are being re-discussed.

    That’s what Flavia Pansieri, United Nations deputy high commissioner for human rights, shared while sitting down with Devex Editor Rolf Rosenkranz at European Development Days 2013 to discuss the insidious side effects of the financial crisis and necessary changes for sustainable development.

    The financial crisis has at times subtly changed policy, but the tendency to closing oneself up can lead to a greater sense of insecurity, discrimination of migrants and “possibly forgetting the responsibility we all have toward solidarity,” Pansieri said.
