2026 Summer Internship, Grid Modeling & Analytics (Remote)

As a Grid Modeling & Analytics Intern, you will be supporting the work of modeling transmission lines from 34.5kV to 500kV with the goal of providing excellent quality work for our clients. 

This is a full-time, 10-week internship that begins in early June 2026.  Work may be done remotely from any U.S. location, or hybrid from our Reston, VA office.  At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance for this internship.Pay is expected to be $23/hour.

As Grid Modeling & Analytics Intern, you will:

  • Extracting transmission line data from 3d models and converting into GIS maps 
  • Reviewing data for errors and performing data cleanup where necessary 
  • Cross-referencing line data from various software sources and filling in missing data 
  • Importing the data into line modeling software and troubleshooting data issues 
  • Calculating line impedances and determining the cause for changes 

Interns may or should have:

  • The ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to non-technical personnel 
  • Basic knowledge of the electric grid 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Strong skills and capabilities in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel) 

Basic Qualifications:

  • By start date, a minimum of 30 completed college-level credit hours is required preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of power systems 
  • Advanced user of Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel
