Join our Special Coverage team as an Audience Engagement & Content Strategist, where you’ll lead the charge in ensuring our high-profile events, content series, and partnerships reach the right audiences on the right platforms. This role is pivotal in shaping how Devex and its partners maximize their impact in advancing global development conversations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Responsibilities
Audience Engagement Strategist
- Develop and implement audience engagement strategies to connect the right people to our events, content series, and partnerships, driving participation and sparking meaningful conversations.
- Analyze audience demographics and behaviors to refine targeting across platforms and inform strategies that resonate with niche audiences.
- Collaborate with partners, internal teams, and speakers to craft messaging tailored to global influencers and decision-makers.
- Inform performance reports to validate audience reach and impact, through integrated marketing strategies across social media, ads, newsletters, audiences at events, etc.
Social Media Strategist
- Lead the integrated social media strategy and content creation across platforms including LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Blue Sky, X, and others.
- Manage paid amplification budgets to maximize the reach and effectiveness of campaigns, adapting strategies based on performance data.
- Ensure alignment across platforms and teams, working closely with the earned media team to maintain consistency in tone, voice, and branding.
Content Marketing
- Drive the marketing strategy for events and content series, including email and newsletter campaigns, website design, and social media activations.
- Identify key narratives and newsworthy moments to craft impactful messaging that drives engagement and aligns with Devex’s editorial-first approach.
- Develop engaging visuals, videos, and infographics using tools like Figma, Canva and Adobe Suite, while managing freelancers for more complex creative needs, such as fully produced videos or custom website designs.
Project & Budget Management
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee robust social media and marketing budgets, monitoring results and adjusting strategies to optimize ROI.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 6-8+ years of experience in digital marketing and/or content strategy, including social media, email, and content marketing.
- Proven ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong proficiency in social media platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X)
- Strong editorial judgment to identify key messaging and narratives.
- Advanced skills in content creation and editing.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools to track campaign performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse global teams and stakeholders in a remote role.
- Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, international development or a related field
- Ability to work in a time zone that overlaps with our European, African and North American based colleagues and partners.
Bonus Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with video editing and production tools
- Knowledge of SEO and SEM best practices
- Understanding of and interest in global development issues
- Experience managing paid social media campaigns
This role is a remote position and the salary range will be based on the candidate’s location and market rates to align with Devex’s global compensation philosophy. If selected for an interview, we can share the compensation range specific to your geographic area.
