Job Description

At Devex, we connect and inform the global development community through agenda-setting journalism and partnerships-driven storytelling. We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Marketing and Advertising Associate to join our Partnerships Editorial team.

In this role, you’ll lead the implementation of Devex’s online, newsletter and direct advertising — in collaboration with leading NGOs, foundations, and global development organizations as part of our sponsored editorial work.

You’ll work at the intersection of strategic marketing and creative storytelling to advise partners on visuals, written copy, and publication timelines to ensure partner ads reach the intended audience. You’ll work closely with a team of Devex colleagues and engage directly with partners to manage and execute the overall advertising schedule, production, and report on impact metrics.

What you’ll do

Manage and lead end-to-end pre-activation back-end processes and account management for Devex partner ads on Devex.com, daily newsletters, direct marketing messages, and collaborate on social media campaigns.

  • Provide support in data analysis to showcase quarterly averages and highlighting benchmarks.
  • Research and develop ideas on improvements and innovations in metrics collection and performance reporting, and drive these when there are no active metrics or reporting tasks.
  • Update process guides, templates, and advertising toolkits.

Lead professional and timely client communications for standalone advertising campaigns, and service as a counselor to partners to refine advertising language and calls to actions.

Create and implement ad strategy plans for partnerships events, sponsored content, and content series; as well as develop marketing content through written and visual ads (graphic design), based on Devex specs, for standalone advertising campaigns.

Serve as the key point person for managing the Devex advertising schedule and communicating with internal Devex colleagues deliver on advertising partnerships, comprised of:

  • Website ads
  • Newsletter ads
  • Targeted e-blasts
  • Paid social media
  • Broader Partnerships (partnerships that are a combination of the above mentioned products), consisting of events and summits, content series, special reports
  • Media Partnerships (in-kind partnerships)

Lead technical activation of newsletter and website ads as well as targeted email announcements through close collaboration between news production team and project managers.

Coordinate media planning and ad campaigns – including assets management, activation, coordination of copy-edits, quality control, scheduling, and content archiving.

Oversee reporting & data collection for all advertising packages, inform performance reports.

  • Pull metrics from different sources and curate data to inform the impact of advertising campaigns.
  • Monitor ongoing metrics collection and monitor performance of active campaigns; and advise on metrics to inform needing to pivot or shift active campaigns.
  • Curate qualitative data for each performance report that is aligned with partnership objectives and audience targets.
  • Visualize data and build presentations with all relevant metrics and content, to showcase the value of the Devex partnership.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong editorial judgment and experience in multimedia digital media marketing, advertising or similar roles, with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Comfortable working with partner-driven or sponsored content, ideally in the nonprofit or development space.
  • Familiarity working with creative and data analytic platforms such as YouScan, Plausible, Canva, Adobe, Marketo, Facebook, X and LinkedIn ads manager, AdButler, among others.
  • Project management experience with tools such as Slack, Monday.com, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience collaborating across departments (editorial, partnerships, marketing).
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines, as well as comfort with AI to help inform workflow improvements and automations.

This role is a remote position and the salary range will be based on
the candidate’s location and market rates to align with Devex’s global
