About the Climate Finance Capacity Support Programme

DT Global delivers the Capacity Support Programme for MFAT. The scope of this programme is quite broad as its aim is to be responsive to the needs of Pacific Island countries. It includes providing personnel or training to assist with:

  • delivering and reporting on the flexible finance provided by MFAT;
  • developing/updating national climate change plans and reporting frameworks;
  • developing an investment-ready pipeline of projects;
  • delivering climate change priorities;
  • improving climate finance reporting; and
  • accessing a broader range of climate finance funding.

About the Role

The Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments (CCVA) Manual Development Consultant will be to support the CCVA Manual Development Specialist create a comprehensive, user-friendly manual that guides stakeholders in assessing vulnerabilities to climate change impacts. This role aims to support enhance the capacity of government agencies, NGOs, and community organisations in identifying, analysing, and mitigating climate-related risks.

Key objectives:

The CCVA Manual Development Consultant will support the Specialist

• Develop a practical and actionable CCVA manual tailored to local contexts and needs.

• Incorporate scientific methods, data, and tools for vulnerability assessments.

• Ensure the manual aligns with national climate change policies and international best practices.

• Build stakeholder capacity through training and workshops based on the manual.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge

  • Degree in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Management or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in climate change vulnerability assessments, adaptation planning, or similar roles, and administrative role.
  • A good understanding of climate risk analysis methodologies and tools.
  • Experience in facilitating and working with engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities.
  • Good research, writing, and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with national climate policies, frameworks, and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity in GIS and other climate modelling tools.
  • Experience in facilitating training and capacity building workshops
  • Exoerience in the Pacific
  • Fluency in Tok Pisin or familiarity with PNG’s cultural and social dynamics

Desirable

  • Good knowledge and understanding of GEDSI principles and mainstreaming
