Chemonics International is seeking a Concierge and Facilities Coordinator. The Concierge is a front-facing position and will interact with internal customers, external customers, and the general public. The Concierge is responsible for greeting visitors and delivering exceptional customer service assistance. This entails answering calls and fielding them, accordingly, addressing visitor questions and needs, and providing an overall welcoming environment. The Concierge is a hospitality professional who attends to the needs of guests and helps them organize their accommodations and administrative needs while visiting Chemonics-Washington. Working in a team alongside of the Receptionist, their duties also include making reservations, recommending local attractions to guests in and around Navy Yard. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Receptionist with handling incoming calls to Chemonics’ main number
  • Multitask and prioritize as necessary to meet customer needs
  • Work in cooperation with the Facilities Management team in connection with maintenance and security issues
  • Assist Receptionist with maintaining neat and orderly Reception area
  • Assist Receptionist in administering building security badges and visitor management system per company policy
  • Provides ad-hoc administrative support to staff and visitors such as printing, copying, scheduling rooms, travel arrangements, etc., from the second-floor concierge desk when appropriate
  • Support catering requests by providing guidance to internal requestors on how to select and order catering for onsite events and meetings
  • Contributes to updating operational documentation
  • Serves as a Floor Warden, per established responsibilities
  • Supports facilities management and safety/security efforts as needed
  • Supports response to safety and security issues arising at Chemonics-Washington office, including the completion of relevant trainings, an understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and equipment, prompt reporting of issues or concerns, and actively serving as a floor warden
  • Undertakes assignments on projects or special initiatives as appropriate
  • Communicates and liaises with other departments, units, and individuals on joint planning and activities
  • Serves as a resource for persons with questions about the facility, company policies, access control, visitor management, wayfinding, and special requests
  • Organizes, schedules, leads, and provides onsite building tours for internal staff, clients/customers, and community visitors at direction of Facilities director or senior director
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required. Associates degree preferred
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; strong cross-culture communication and sensitivity skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle routine administrative tasks and operational issues
  • Ability to multitask with strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision, and contribute to projects and initiatives
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and initiative to learn new skills
  • CPR/AED certified or willing to be certified
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

Work Conditions

  • 40 hours/week onsite required
  • Normal office environment; usually moderate noise level
  • Occasional exposure to environmental conditions includes exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather
  • Ability to travel locally (within the Washington, DC metro area)

The Hourly Pay Range for this position is: $21.96 - $27.46.

An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
