Data Scientist , USAID Ethiopia Integrated Learning Activity (ILA)

Job Description

Dexis is hiring for a Data Scientist to support a live solicitation funded by USAID Ethiopia. The Data Scientist will lead the development and maintenance of datasets, starting from the design of data collection tools, data collection, analysis, and data visualization.

This position is based in Ethiopia and is contingent upon contract award.

• 7 years of relevant MEL experience, including data analysis and assessment, designing and implementing evaluations, assessments, and analytical reports, indicator development, and utilizing data quality verification techniques for large development projects.
• Proven track record and skills in predictive analytics, effectively prioritizing and implementing key analysis and learning work streams.
• Experience in data collection in non-permissible environments
• Proven experience conducting training and capacity development activities and facilitating learning events.
• Substantial technical experience in monitoring and evaluation of international development projects, preferably for USAID. Presents analytic findings to internal and external groups.
• Knowledge and experience in managing big data, data mining, or extracting usable data from valuable primary and secondary data sources.
• Experience in taking data quality measures: processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of big data to be used for analysis.
• Strong data analysis skills, including good command of statistics, sampling methodologies, and statistical analysis software such as Tableau, SPSS, STATA, GIS, etc.
• Working knowledge of data visualization, infographics, and data presentation techniques.
• Knowledge and understanding of USAID Evaluation and ADS regulations.
• Prior experience working on USAID-funded programs in Ethiopia or East Africa preferred.
• Experience with mixed-method research
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• Master’s degree in statistics, and research methods, with training in the social sciences or a related field.
