This position is located in the Office of the Director in the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS).
The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services, and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions.
The Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) provides services to Secretariat entities as well as to New York-based Agencies, Funds, and Programmes (AFP). The services include:
In addition, the Secretariat’s counselling services are located within DHMOSH.
Under the overall supervision of the Medical Director, the incumbent may have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
We are looking for applicants who will demonstrate their intention to study further or work in a field relevant to the work of DHMOSH.
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent or higher).
b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
c) Have graduated with a university degree (secondary or first level).
d) Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
e) Have a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
f) Risk/Crisis management and/or Emergency Care background is desirable.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Power BI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
An orientation in statistical data analytics is desirable.
Public Health or Data Management background is desirable.
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
Your training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
LanguagesFor internships in the United States of America, interns who are not United States citizens, permanent residents, or on another non-immigrant status (such as F1 visa) will be required to obtain a G4 visa.
