The Education Specialist – Research will be supporting members of the Fiji Education Program (FEP) to develop Ministry of Education’s capacity to conduct and use education research to inform changes in practices, policies, and education reforms. This position will be responsible for managing and/or conducting research studies related to FEP areas of interventions. Some of these areas include: student learning outcomes and teacher professional development related to primary-level literacy and numeracy and secondary level English and Mathematics curriculum reform; special and inclusive education; and gender equity, disability inclusion and social inclusion (GEDSI) in education.
The PersonTo be successful in this role, you will hold a thesis-based postgraduate qualification in education, sociology, or another related subject with a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the area of education with at least 5 years’ experience conducting educational research in the areas of student learning outcomes. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with government systems and processes to provide evidence-based data and encourage its use for decision-making.
Suitable candidate will have sound knowledge of qualitative and quantitative educational research methods, and knowledge and competency in advanced analysis and information technology tools. They will demonstrate good communication skills and willingness to act as a champion for key cross cutting issues which includes gender equality, disability and social inclusion, and climate change/disaster risk reduction.
This position is locally engaged and reserved for National Citizens of Fiji. The annual salary will be FJD 117,000 – 176,500 dependent upon the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
