Position Summary:

The Employee Engagement Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting, all events and opportunities related to the improvement of staff engagement. The successful candidate will partner with MSI executive leadership and team leaders across the company to collectively build and maintain a thriving culture and community by facilitating connections between staff and teams. This is a new role for MSI and provides an exciting opportunity to shape and develop the position to meet organizational business needs.

The preferred location for this role is the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, however MSI currently allows remote work. The successful candidate must be willing to occasionally work in the Arlington, VA office, as required for meetings and events. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify strategies to provide inclusive and equitable experiences for remote and office-based employees.
  • Develop methods to listen and learn from staff experiences (e.g., employee engagement surveys, pulse surveys, “stay interviews,” etc.).
  • Determine employee engagement needs by working with management and staff as initiatives are implemented, documents, evaluates, and reports outcomes.
  • Coordinate the schedule, develop agendas, and maintain a calendar of engagement opportunities in partnership with a cross-functional teams and committees.
  • Identify ways to sustain employee engagement, prevent employee burnout, and retain employees.
  • Design written and visual content related to engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Lead the development and promotion of consistent norms around synchronous and asynchronous collaboration in a remote/hybrid work environment, including online/hybrid meeting etiquette, and using/maintaining knowledge management systems.
  • Provide supervisors and team leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to promote employee engagement within their own teams and departments.
  • Identify gaps in skills related to remote work collaboration and work with MSI’s Training team to implement training and learning activities.
  • Liaise closely with three employee-led committees on employee engagement initiatives: Networking Committee, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, and the Wellness Group.
  • Support HR initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources, organizational development, marketing, communications, or another related field.
  • Minimum five years of professional level experience.
  • Minimum two years of relevant/direct experience in human resources, organizational development, and/or employee engagement.
  • Experience working for an organization with a culturally diverse and/or globally distributed workforce.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong willingness to generate new ideas and capture lessons learned.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders across an organization including executive leadership.
  • Results-driven, highly organized, and detail-oriented approach to work with a commitment to excellence.
  • Awareness and support for discretion as required for HR functions and business purposes.
  • High standard of sensitivity with confidential information required.
  • No travel is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required. Competence in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is a plus.

Pay Transparency Statement:

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation. We commit to providing a holistic comprehensive salary analysis, including reviews of individual skill sets and compensable factors related to qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000 USD.
