About the Opportunity
DT Global is seeking expressions of interest from Environmental and Social Specialists for an upcoming opportunity in the Pacific.
About the Role
Specific roles and responsibilities are:
- The Environmental and Social Specialist will be part time at the Construction Site during the construction stage. During the supervision stage for both the D&S Phases, the Specialist will prepare a detailed action plan including environmental and social monitoring checklists to ensure that the Environmental Management System in accordance with the environmental and social risk management instruments is established, implemented, maintained, and will monitor its performance.
- The Environmental and Social Specialist will ensure environmental and social risks and impacts are managed during the construction works.
- The role will also conduct environmental and social risk management training and briefings to ensure contractor and worker awareness of the client and government environmental and social risk policies, requirements, and standard operating procedures in conformity with the government’s regulations environmental and social risk management instruments, and good international industry practice for project and IA staff.
- Ensure baseline monitoring and reporting of Contractor’s compliance with contractual environmental and social risk and impact mitigation measures during the supervision stage.
- On the part of social risk management activities, the Specialist will be responsible to the Team Leader for all social development aspects of the project as defined in the environmental and social risk management instruments
About You
General qualifications
- Degree or diploma in environmental or social sciences or equivalent.
- Preferably twelve (12) years’ experience in conducting environmental and social impact assessments and implementation of environment mitigation plans and/or monitoring implementation of environmental and social mitigation measures and health and safety plans during implementation of project including projects funded by developing partners, including 8 years’ international experience
- Professionally qualified social development studies or anthropology qualifications, or equivalent.
- Preferably 10 years of experience with the projects financed by international development financing agencies, preferably with knowledge of and experience with relevant donors or similar agencies’ policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge in English Language is mandatory and context knowledge of small island developing countries is desirable.
