Expected Duration
Full-time internship (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
Minimum period: 3 months; Maximum period: 6 months
Period: November 2025 to June 2026, exact dates based on intern availability and division needs
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in graphic design of fliers and create/edit videos and reels using Adobe software (experience required)
Research, collect, and prepare reports on countrywide land restoration and habitat conservation efforts (government, private sector, and community)
Research, collect, and prepare reports on regional land degradation and habitat conservation initiatives, including the Great Green Wall and Green Middle East Initiative
Review framework laws on restoration in G20 countries and prepare a compendium on environmental restoration provisions after mining
Monitor social media for topics relevant to the Global Initiative
Collaborate with the team in designing, developing, and implementing awareness-raising activities
Perform other duties assigned by the supervising officer related to the internship
Background
UNCCD, established in 1994, is the legally binding international agreement addressing desertification, land degradation, and drought (DLDD)
The G20 Global Initiative aims to achieve a 50% reduction in degraded land by 2040, focusing on capacity building, private sector engagement, and showcasing success
The Initiative Coordination Office (ICO), under the Executive Secretary of UNCCD, manages the implementation of initiative activities
Qualifications / Special Skills
Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (science, arts, engineering, forestry, agriculture, or related fields) or recently graduated (within one year)
Strong research skills for effective internet and desk research
Excellent writing skills in English; ability to draft and edit content for publication
Planning and organizational skills; ability to work in an organized and structured manner
Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Languages
Excellent oral and written English required
