The Hub Coordinator will be stationed in Deir Ezzor City and will be responsible to oversee represent UN-Habitat and coordinate project across Deir Ezzor and Northeast Syria (NES) as further outlined in Section III. Ad-hoc travel to Deir Ezzor Governorate and neighbourhood Governorates including Raqqa as well as Damascus is expected.
Under the overall guidance of the Head of Country Programme and daily supervision of the Deputy Head of County Programme, the Hub Coordinator shall represent UN-Habitat at the subnational level support the implementation of country programme’s activities and build in Deir Ezzor and NES as per the functions listed below.
Representation: Engagement, Coordination, and Networking with Stakeholders
Represent UN-Habitat in Deir Ezzor Hub and covers Deir Ezzor Governorate and North-East Syria.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Governors, Mayors, governorate and municipal officials, and local authorities.
Coordinate and collaborate with other UN agencies, local community, civil society, NGOs, academia, private sector actors, and other relevant partners.
Support and facilitate effective engagement and joint initiatives with government, UN agencies and other local and international partners.
Hub Management
Manage the Hub staff including oversight of administrative, personnel, procurement, and financial matters to ensure timely, high-quality, and effective delivery of project activities.
Project Implementation
Oversee the project activities implemented under the area of coverage in close coordination with Project Managers.
Support regular follow-up on activities progress, delays, and challenges, ensuring issues are identified early and addressed in coordination with management, and stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Urban Advisory Unit to collect relevant data and conduct field assessments, supporting the identification, design, and planning of new interventions based on local needs and priority.
HLP Coordination
Lead to coordinate and integrate HLP works of UN-Habitat together with other UN agencies, NGOs and government partners, including supporting the coordination of HLP TWG with NRC and UNHCR, and other clusters and working groups as needed.
