The Department of Operational Support (DOS) provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services, and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions.
The Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, Uganda (RSCE), established in July 2010, delivers efficient, client-oriented, scalable services including HR, finance, multimodal transport, ICT support, and cargo transport.
The Office of the Director RSCE and Deputy Director provides guidance on operations including strategic planning, communication, budgeting, HR management, property management, quality assurance, conference services, archive management, audit response, and risk management.
This internship opportunity is in the Human Resources and Talent Management Unit (HRTMU) of the RSCE.
The intern will work under the supervision of the Career Development / Human Resources Officer.
Responsibilities
Exposure to all work of the HRTMU.
Support activities of the career development unit; coordinate with service units and liaise frequently with internal team members.
Collaborate and share career professional development updates/links via SharePoint.
Coordinate administrative arrangements for French classes and other staff knowledge management trainings.
Assist in promoting career professional development initiatives.
Support preparation of events, conferences, and visitor management; schedule appointments/meetings and monitor deadlines.
Provide general office support; respond to career information requests and draft communications.
Draft routine correspondence and communications; attend and take notes at meetings.
Undertake research on HR-related issues and assist in preparation of notes/reports.
Perform other administrative HR duties as assigned by the Career Development / Human Resources Officer.

Education
Enrolled in, or completed, a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or enrolled in, or completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Open to broad educational backgrounds; coursework in HR management, business administration, management, strategic communications, design, project management, public administration, or administrative law/employment law is desirable.
Work Experience
No prior working experience required.
Training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
Good knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desirable.
Languages
English required: UN Level II (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking).
French is a working language but not required for this opening.
