Job Description

Functional Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the UNOPS Senior Programme Manager or designated individual, the incumbent will work with the Senior Planning Officer, Executive Office of the Secretary-General, and will be responsible for collaborating with the Strategic Planning Unit in EOSG and OICT to:

  • Support independent review teams in building evidence-based assessments that leverage a full range of UN data;

  • Assist in delivering tailored data-driven insights on needs, risks and impact of UN country and regional operations;

  • Support the development of data-driven scorecards to facilitate effective system-wide collaboration on the ground;

  • Assist in the design of composite indices that monitor trends and patterns in cross-pillar needs and results;

  • Support the implementation of tracking tools and surveys to track compliance with system-wide policies/directives;

  • Develop dashboards and interactive reports, using corporate analytics applications;

  • Assist in developing documentation and training materials;

  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above.

Monitoring and Progress Controls

The work of the ICT Associate (Data Analyst) directly impacts delivery of services of EOSG and OICT, as well as the performance of the services implemented in field missions and headquarters. EOSG and OICT will ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to the latest industry standards. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring activities for all global locations are in line with the overall business targets and UN policies, rules and regulations

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • A university degree in Management, Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Administration, International Relations or related field is an asset or advantage and may replace some of the required number of years of experience.


Work Experience

Required:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of post-high school experience in management consulting or similar, including in support of analytics, strategy implementation or change management, a minimum of two (2) years of experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree;

  • A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated proficiency in data management, analytics, visualization, reporting, survey implementation, or similar;

  • A minimum of (1) year of experience with knowledge management applications, or similar (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, or similar).

Desirable (The following experience is optional. Candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply.):

  • Passion for the United Nations, including global agendas on sustainable development, climate, peace, human rights;

  • Ability to process high-level business problems and develop precise client-focused analytical solutions;

  • Experience in interfacing with stakeholders and communicating complex concepts in compelling presentations;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI, PowerPoint, PowerQuery, Tableau, DAX, SQL, Python, or similar;

  • Experience with survey and workflow apps, incl. Microsoft Forms, PowerAutomate, PowerApps, or similar;

  • Familiarity with techniques for text mining, sentiment analysis, predictive analysis, event detection, or similar.


Language

  • Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required for this post.
  • Knowledge of one or more official UN languages will be considered an asset.
