UNEP is the UN system’s designated entity for addressing global and regional environmental issues.
The intern will work within the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), Geneva-based Industry and Economy Division.
GGKP is co-hosted by UNEP and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), serving as the Secretariat on behalf of the GGKP Steering Committee (UNEP, GGGI, OECD, UNIDO, World Bank).
GGKP is a global network of over 90 international organizations, research institutes, and NGOs focused on promoting green economy transitions by:
Identifying major knowledge gaps in green growth theory and practice.
Promoting collaboration and coordinated research to fill these gaps.
Using knowledge management and communication tools to provide practitioners, policymakers, and experts access to policy analysis, guidance, information, and data.
The intern will support GGKP’s Industry and Value Chains workstream, which focuses on:
Supporting industry actors (SMEs, large companies, business associations) and related stakeholders (policy makers, international organizations, financial institutions, NGOs) to develop, access, and apply green and circular economy knowledge.
Facilitating knowledge exchange through focused networks, dedicated platforms, AI-powered knowledge collation systems, and customizable tools.
Engaging stakeholders to ensure alignment between knowledge producers, policy/financial enablers, and end-users.
Specific tasks for the intern include:
Supporting operation and expansion of global and regional stakeholder networks, including the Green Forum (www.thegreenforum.org).
Supporting deployment and enhancement of online tools to help SMEs access resource efficiency support and implement targeted actions (www.igosolution.org).
Researching circular economy projects and initiatives for digital mapping and analysis.
Assisting in outreach, promotion, agenda preparation, and logistical/technical support for webinars and other events.
Supporting other tasks associated with GGKP project implementation as directed by supervising staff.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Current or recent minimum Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Sustainable Development, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
