Support gender mainstreaming and/or safeguards risk identification by reviewing project proposals, publications, and related documents and providing feedback.
Conduct research and summarize key developments and emerging trends related to gender and/or safeguards and the environment.
Participate in group discussions, contributing insights, ideas, and feedback on key topics and issues.
Assist the Gender and Safeguards Unit (GSU) in planning and coordinating meetings and events, including UNEA-7 and UN Women’s 16 Days campaign against Gender-Based Violence.
Analyze and monitor the use and uptake of gender and/or safeguards information on UNEP’s Gender/Safeguards WeCollaborate page.
Draft impact stories and messages for UNEP digital platforms and other communications opportunities.
Monitor and analyze information uploaded on the Open Data Portal and prepare reports on findings.
Assist in reporting on LNOB, inclusivity, gender, and/or safeguards, including UN-SWAP 3.0 and CPR reporting, as well as UNDIS and SDG 1 and 10 indicators.
Support capacity building workshops and assessments (gender and disability inclusion), including preparing presentations, analyses, and visualizations.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications / Special Skills
University degree in Gender Studies, Human Rights, Sociology, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or related field (courses on gender preferred).
Must meet one of the following at the time of application:
Enrolled in a graduate school program (university degree or higher).
Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level).
Graduated with a university degree and able to commence internship within one year of graduation.
Computer literacy in standard software applications required.
Experience with Canva is desirable.
Ability to professionally edit video footage is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of French or other UN languages is an advantage.
Additional Information
Internship is not financially remunerated.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may need appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
