Our commitment to gender transformative change goes beyond addressing “symptoms” to explicitly tackle the root causes of gender inequality and exclusion, particularly unequal power relations, discriminatory social norms and systems, structures, policies and practices.
In this role as the Interim Head of Gender Equality and Inclusion you will provide global strategic leadership of Plan International’s work on gender equality, inclusion and girls’ rights across all areas of our workplaces and programming. You will ensure that Plan International’s programme and influencing work around the world effectively integrates gender equality and inclusion as a core part of our strategy. Likewise, you will also ensure that gender equality, inclusion, and girls’ rights are effectively integrated across Plan International’s internal organisational structure and culture.
The Individual
You will need to be a credible expert in gender equality and inclusion, girls’ rights and global women’s right as well as feminist movements. With a substantial education and experience working in those areas, leading initiatives in these fields in complex international organisations.
With demonstrable experience in leadership, a compelling influencer and networker. Passionate about gender equality, inclusion and girls’ rights and able to inspire others, build consensus, and bring them together around a common agenda, with the ability to navigate a complex global organisation.
An excellent communicator with fluency in English is required - French and/or Spanish would be an advantage.

Location: Where Plan International has a legal entity and you have the pre-existing right to live and work. Employment terms will be based on local conditions.
Type of Role: Fixed Term Contract until April 2021
Reports to: Executive Director Gender Equality and Girls Rights
Salary: Competitive
