Overview: DT Global is seeking an Intern to support the Climate and Environment Services Team. As a key member of the team, the Intern will help develop an internal community of practice for climate change and environmental sustainability, conduct research on climate change topics, contribute to business development proposals, and provide administrative and project management support. This internship is an opportunity to learn about international development priorities in climate change, environment and sustainability while also becoming familiar with cutting edge solutions, trends, and innovations across sectors. DT Global is firmly committed to professional development and seeks to foster the careers of young professionals. As such, the Intern will work closely with both the Director and Technical Director to receive regular one-on-one mentoring, as well as have the opportunity to identify and lead research on a climate change topic of their choice. This is a paid opportunity and the internship is scheduled to take place from approximately late July through October 2022, with the possibility of extension.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support thought leadership research efforts across the climate change team’s priority sub-sectors (e.g., climate finance, climate change & vulnerable groups, environmental justice)
  • Support development of Community of Practice structure and knowledge base organization to improve coordination between DT Global’s primary offices in the US, UK, Spain, and Australia
  • Support competitive landscape, donor and country research for specific new business opportunities
  • Support data gathering efforts for greenhouse gas (GHG) inventorying
  • Support information gathering on institutional capabilities, including the development and editing of sectoral capability summaries
  • Provide administrative assistance on project management tasks, including audit and procurement support
  • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned

  • Learn about climate change, environment and sustainability topics and an understanding of trends and cutting-edge solutions in these sectors, specifically in the context of international development
  • Learn about corporate environmental sustainability and exposure to greenhouse gas inventorying
  • Receive mentoring and professional development advice from senior staff
  • Refine research, communications, and administrative skills within a work environment

Education & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, including international development environmental science, climate science, geography, or sustainability, or other.
  • Relevant college or graduate coursework in international development, climate change, environment, geography, or other relevant fields
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Self-starter and self-motivated and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong secondary research, analysis, and data synthesis skills
  • Attention to detail; good organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working towards a graduate degree in environmental science, climate science, geography, or sustainability or other relevant fields
  • 5 months of professional work experience in climate change, environment or sustainability related projects
  • Familiarity with development partners and a general understanding of climate change, environment and sustainability issues
  • Fluency in languages beyond English is desirable
