Internship located in the Director’s Office of the Sustainable Transport Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Geneva
Works under the direct supervision of the Secretary of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC)
Contribute to the work of the Sustainable Transport Division, including preparation, implementation, and follow-up of the 88th plenary session of ITC (17–20 February 2026), including Ministerial components
Support tasks include:
Assist with research, analysis, and drafting of official and informal plenary session documents
Assist with invitations of participants and speakers, including high-level government, international organization, and private sector representatives
Support organization of side-events with participation of senior UN officials and Member States
Assist with preparation of communication materials and management of ITC web and social media presence
Provide ad hoc assistance for other activities related to preparation and follow-up of ITC plenary session and side-events, including liaising with member States and taking notes
Support implementation of the ITC Strategy on Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Inland Transport and its Action Plan
Assist with other tasks in the Director’s Office and Sustainable Transport Division

Qualifications/Special Skills
Must meet one of the following at time of application:
Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher)
Enrolled in or recently completed the final year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level)
Computer literate in standard software applications
Relevant fields of study: economics, political/international affairs, international relations, business/public administration, law, or similar
Knowledge of the transport sector, sustainable development, and/or climate change is an asset
Demonstrated interest in the United Nations and commitment to the Charter
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs

Languages
Fluency in English required
Working knowledge of French or Russian desirable
