Work Location

  • Geneva, Switzerland

Expected Duration

  • 4 months: 1 October 2025 – 31 January 2026
  • Possibility of extension up to a maximum of six months (start date flexible)

Duties and Responsibilities

Background

  • The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint agency of the UN and WTO, providing technical assistance and capacity building to policymakers, the private sector, and trade/investment support organisations.
  • ITC supports achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to global value chains.
  • ITC focuses on generating sustainable incomes and livelihoods, especially for women and youth, while promoting environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
  • The Institutions and Ecosystems Section (I&E) in the Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI) manages ITC’s headquarters-based trade-related technical assistance programmes for Business Support Organisations (BSOs).

Description of Duties / Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Senior Officer, Organisations and Ecosystems Development, under the overall supervision of the Chief, Institutions and Ecosystems Section.

Digital Communications

  • Assist in the implementation of the Digital Communications strategy of I&E Section.
  • Disseminate communication materials online (section webpages, social media, email marketing).

Project Management

  • Manage project-related activities, particularly for capacity building of entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs) such as incubators and accelerators.
  • Support the preparation of project documentation and project implementation.
  • Assist in managing the www.ITCBenchmarking.org platform.

Research

  • Conduct desk research and BSO surveys as required.
  • Prepare briefing materials on trade & investment promotion good practices (Word, PowerPoint).
  • Contribute to assessment reports and other write-ups.

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in the final academic year of the first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s or equivalent).
    • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher).
    • Graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital communications tools (preferable).
    • Fluent English; working knowledge of French is a plus.
    • Good communication and analytical skills, ability to present findings clearly in writing and orally.
    • Knowledge of Business Support Organisations and their environment.

Languages

  • Advanced knowledge of English is required.
  • Working knowledge of French is desirable.

  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
