Duties and Responsibilities
The desired starting date is 1 August 2025, and the internship is for 6 months.
The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time).
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) provides technical assistance related to combating terrorism, organized crime, corruption, and drugs to requesting Member States.
This assistance also supports States strengthening criminal justice and health systems and ratifying and successfully implementing international conventions and protocols, in compliance with the rule of law and human rights.
The UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific’s (ROSEAP) Regional Programme outlines the proposed scope and focus of UNODC work in the region for the years to come.
It provides a framework for delivering a coherent programme of work to (i) give a clear focus on supporting Member States and regional partners in achieving priority crime and drug outcomes; and (ii) increase the responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness of UNODC support to the region.
The Regional Programme focuses primarily on crime and drug challenges that are best addressed through coordinated cross-border and intra-regional cooperation.
There are five Sub-Programmes under the Regional Programme: Transnational organized crime, Anti-Corruption, Terrorism Prevention, Criminal Justice System, Drugs and Health, and Alternative Development.
The UNODC Programme Office in the Philippines, based in Manila, contributes to the implementation of the overall mandate of UNODC and of the Regional Programme for South-East Asia and the Pacific with regards to the Philippines, coordinating and executing UNODC activities taking place in the country, in close coordination with the host Government and relevant partners.
The Programme Office is active in the area of drugs, crime, terrorism, corruption and justice reform.
The intern reports to the Health and Drugs National Programme Officer and will be involved in the work of all UNODC’s teams, with a particular focus on communication, reporting, administration and coordination activities.
The position is based in the main office of the Programme Office in the Philippines in Metro Manila, Philippines.

Main duties will include but not be limited to:
Draft Letter(s)
• Assist in drafting professional communications, including letters, newsletters, and Concept Notes, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organizational tone.
• Develop formal correspondence (e.g. invitations, endorsements, coordination letters) in support of project activities or stakeholder engagement.
• Help maintain organized records of communication, drafts, and revisions to support transparency and project continuity.
• Tailor drafts for approval by UNODC staff prior to dissemination.
Communication material
• Design and layout informative and visually engaging communication material and flyers to promote activities, meetings, or advocacy initiatives.
• Ensure content is aligned with UNODC branding and messaging guidelines.
Concept Notes
• Prepare concise concept notes outlining objectives, rationale, target audience, and implementation details for proposed activities, meetings, or campaigns.
• Incorporate inputs from key stakeholders and ensure alignment with UNODC priorities.
Stakeholder Coordination Reports (with supervision from a UNODC staff member)
• Coordinate with relevant government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to facilitate project implementation.
• Provide summaries or reports documenting coordination efforts, including meeting minutes, agreements, and follow-up actions.
• Contribute to the development and editing of project documentation and reports.
Activity and Meeting Support
• Participate in team meetings and provide input or follow-up on assigned action items.
• Assist in planning and logistical arrangements for events and meetings (e.g. scheduling, materials preparation, venue coordination).
• Maintain records of participation, prepare attendance sheets, and support documentation and reporting.
• Support project coordination by facilitating collaboration and information flow among team members across multiple ongoing initiatives.
Qualifications/special skills
The basic education required is HS Diploma.
