About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to support our Risk and Legal Unit. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates with an interest in risk assessment, risk management, and legal compliance to gain practical experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The role will focus on managing and optimizing information and data within the Risk Unit, leveraging Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, Microsoft Tools and Monday.com to improve reporting, analysis and workflow efficiency. Strong IT skills are highly desirable.
Key responsibilities
1.Risk Management (primary and main focus):
Lead and support activities related to identifying, assessing and managing organizational risks.
Assist in developing, updating and maintaining enterprise and project-level risk registers.
Contribute to the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, monitoring progress, and recommending improvements.
Support with reporting on key risk indicators and contribute to risk awareness across the organization.
Conduct research on emerging risk trends and regulatory risks.
Manage and analyze data using Excel, PowerBI, SharePoint and other tools (such as Monday.com); identify opportunities for improved data handling and reporting.
2.Legal Compliance:
Support compliance reviews and due diligence processes for our partners and service providers.
Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, risk frameworks, internal policies and funder requirements.
Conduct research on applicable legal, regulatory, and risk management requirements and summarize and present findings in clear, concise reports.
3.Legal (contracting, minimal focus):
Provide support in reviewing and maintaining standard contracts and agreements from compliance perspective.
Assist in ensuring that contractual terms appropriately reflect and mitigate identified risks.
Assist in the negotiation process by preparing drafts and amendments to contracts.
Experience and competencies
Currently pursuing or recently completed University degree or equivalent studies in Risk Management, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, other European languages welcome.
High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
Interest or prior experience or coursework in compliance, risk management, or governance is a plus.
Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerBI, Microsoft Office, and general IT/data management. Monday.com is a plus.
A genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF.
Candidates must be entitled to internships in the country they are applying for.
