Position Summary
The IT Assistant is responsible for providing service desk, end-user support, troubleshooting, and
technical support for all IT services. The IT Assistant assists in maintaining system availability,
resolving technical issues, and ensuring a high level of IT service delivery for staff, faculty, and
students across AUAF.

· Reliable and timely resolution of IT service desk requests and incidents.

· Effective coverage of service desk functions in a remote support model.
· Accurate documentation and reporting of IT support activities.
· Timely troubleshooting and resolution of complex IT incidents across hardware, software,
· network, and collaboration platforms.
Responsibilities
• Provide first- and second-level technical support to staff, faculty, and students.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, software
applications, and peripheral devices.
• Monitor and maintain end-user systems and network connectivity to ensure uptime and
performance.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and basic network issues, escalating complex matters
when required.
• Support users with access issues, system usage, and basic application troubleshooting in
coordination with senior IT staff.
• Respond to incidents and service requests within defined service levels, ensuring timely
resolution and user communication.
• Manage multiple open tickets concurrently, prioritizing issues based on urgency and impact.
• Assist with deployment, configuration, and testing of new software, systems, and IT tools.
• Perform routine maintenance checks, including system updates, hardware inspections, and basic
electrical safety checks.
• Install, configure, and support audiovisual equipment, including projectors and conferencing
tools, as required.
• Maintain accurate service desk records, support logs, and technical documentation.
• Prepare user guides, procedural documentation, and basic training materials as required.
• Provide off-hours, weekend, or on-call support when operational needs require.
• Undertake additional IT operational tasks assigned by IT management.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in IT support or technical operations, including
advanced troubleshooting responsibilities.
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, operating systems, networking, end-point
management and collaboration platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems.
• CCNA, MCSE, or equivalent technical certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience working in higher education, international organizations, or complex multi-user
environments preferred.

• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.

• Flexibility to work beyond standard office hours when required to support critical operations.
