Job Description

Intern – International Law Seminar and Legal Research (Geneva Office)

Work Location:
GENEVA

Expected Duration:
6 months

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision and daily guidance of the Chief of Office, the intern will perform the following tasks:

  • Assist in preparing materials for the 60th anniversary of the International Law Seminar (2026), including:
    • Conducting historical research on the Seminar and its participants
    • Supporting the development of a possible publication
    • Contributing to any related activities
  • Conduct legal research on topics related to international law or other areas of specialization using various research tools
  • Review legal documents, instruments, or other materials
  • Draft and prepare official and legal documents
  • Attend conferences and meetings and take notes
  • Assist in servicing conferences and meetings
  • Support work on websites and/or presentations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Special Skills:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate programme (second university degree or higher)
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor’s level)

Additional requirements:

  • Degree or studies must be in the field of Law
  • A background in journalism or publication preparation is considered an asset
  • No professional work experience is required, but the field of study must be closely related to the internship’s scope
  • Applicants must indicate which eligibility criterion they meet and attach proof to the application
  • An official certificate may be required at a later stage

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and/or French is required
  • Good knowledge of the other (French or English) is required
  • Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage

Additional Information:

  • Interns are not financially remunerated
  • All costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution
  • Non-citizens or non-residents of the internship country may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization
  • Selected candidates should confirm visa requirements before accepting the internship offer
