Brief Description:

Resonance is seeking candidates to join our dynamic team as Manager, Commercial Sustainability Services. The Manager will provide critical project implementation support, specifically focused on our work with our non-US Government projects which include engagements with private sector companies, major foundations, and NGOs, with a particular focus on sustainable sourcing and supply chains, technology, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and corporate sustainability strategies. S/he will also work across practice areas to assist with project management, new business development, and client engagement.
This is a full-time position based in Seattle, WA; Washington, DC; or Burlington, VT, reporting to the Director, Corporate Sustainability Services. Ability to travel 30% internationally for period of up to three weeks on short notice required.


Responsibilities:

Project Management & Technical Assistance (70%)

  • Provide strategic counsel to a portfolio of commercial clients, ensuring that key projects and engagements are delivered on time and within scope
  • Support field assessments, research/analysis, business model development for corporate and foundation clients
    Build and facilitate meetings and workshops focused on building multi-stakeholder partnerships, or on new approaches to emerging market businesses
  • Develop pipelines of potential partners that can extend and amplify our clients’ work, including donors, NGOs, development banks, impact investors, and peer companies
  • Support the development and deployment of new investment and innovation models across sectors, leveraging private capital, donor funding and local resources
  • Serve as strategic counsel on client projects by identifying, building, managing and evaluating shared value initiatives
  • Leverage experience in sustainable sourcing to provide technical expertise in agriculture, fisheries, food services, and manufacturing supply chains
  • Contribute to partnership assessments for corporate sustainability clients in areas such as food security, supply chain development, trade and competitiveness, technology for development, financial inclusion, innovation and enterprise development, export and market development
  • Maintain and track budgets and staff utilization

Business Development (20%)

  • Contribute to business development strategy and outreach, including developing pitches and presentations to new commercial clients
    Working with the Senior Manager, Business Development, foster and cultivate relationships with prospective clients
  • Attend key conferences, trade shows, or industry events
  • Leverage contacts throughout the sustainable sourcing industry to build and develop new client relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partnership units at donor agencies, foundations, development finance institutions, and others
  • Track and seek opportunities for our corporate clients to participate in large-scale, donor-led initiatives
  • Seek opportunities to deepen our existing client relationships and footprints through enterprise-level business development

Thought Leadership (10%)

  • Work with Resonance’s marketing team to expand our position among prospective corporate clients
  • Draft blog posts, case studies, and articles that demonstrate and advance Resonance’s leadership in areas such as partnerships, private sector development, and corporate sustainability
  • Assist with or lead the corporate sustainability services team for speaking opportunities at key industry events

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, international relations or related field
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate sustainability, supply chain sustainability, management consulting, or global development
• Experience working in emerging markets on complex global development issues, with a specific focus on sustainable sourcing and/or food systems sourcing
• Understanding of global development field and the role of various actors including donors, development banks, and impact investors
• Experience developing, brokering, and running multi-stakeholder partnerships
• Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
