Job Description

Project Context and Scope

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) / UN Migration Agency is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1951 and is committed to the principle that humane and regulated migration benefits migrants and society.

The “Promoting the Inclusion of Internal Migrants in Green Renovation in Kyrgyzstan” project has been initiated by IOM in 2023. The project’s aim is to foster the involvement of internal migrants in the Kyrgyzstan Government’s green renovation endeavours. To achieve this objective, the project enhanced the capacities of women beneficiaries, piloted green renovation designs in households, and conducted an awareness-raising campaign among migrant communities and the general populace regarding the availability of these designs and the advantages of green renovation.

As part of the project, green renovations were carried out in 12 households headed by women migrants. Through pilot grant support, a series of case studies and examples were developed to demonstrate how internal migrant women actively engaged in incorporating green features into their homes. These efforts helped raise awareness of the important role internal migrants can play in climate action and the shift toward a green economy.

The examples also highlighted practical approaches for integrating environmentally friendly elements into existing housing, outlining both the process and related costs, while ensuring alignment with minimum environmental standards. To further strengthen awareness, an analytical article featuring data and testimonials from project beneficiaries is planned.
