The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is a scientific nonprofit organization that sets standards for the identity, strength, quality, and purity of medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements manufactured, distributed and consumed worldwide. USP’s drug standards are enforceable in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration, and these standards are used in more than 140 countries. USP’s focus on global public health extends to lower and middle-income countries with work in over 20 countries through donor-funded programs. USP was recently awarded the Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+), a 5-year USAID-funded global program designed to sustainably strengthen medical product quality assurance systems in low-and-middle income countries. The main program objectives include: to improve governance, improve country and regional regulatory systems, optimize and increase financial resources, increase supply of quality-assured essential medicines and advance global learning and operational agenda, for medical products quality assurance.
PQM+ is currently recruiting for a full-time consultant, based in Maputo, Mozambique to oversee the day-to-day implementation of USAID Mozambique workplan activities for the benefit of the National Directorate of Pharmacy (DNF) and the Laboratório Nacional de Controle de Qualidade dos Medicamentos (LNCQM). S/he will work under the guidance of the PQM + program manager for Mozambique.
