Why Tetra Tech International Development?
As a leading global development consulting firm, our purpose is to contribute to a world where people, communities and the planet thrive.
Tetra Tech International Development works with governments, businesses, and NGOs to solve complex development challenges. Our dedicated team helps partners including Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), USAID and the Asian Development Bank to deliver effective and sustainable projects in more than 80 countries around the world.
The Program
The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, disaster resilience and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and disaster risk reduction across its sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.
Australia’s Fiji Education Program works in close partnership with Fiji’s Ministry of Education. It is focused on improving Fiji’s literacy and numeracy curricula, building teacher skills, embedding inclusive practices, and enhancing use of data and other information for decision-making.
The Position
The MEL Coordinator will take a leading role assessing the Education Program’s performance, providing decision-makers with the information they need, when they need it. The position will maintain the Education Program’s results framework, visit schools around Fiji, collect a range of evidence, and evaluate the performance of various aspects of the Program. This role will convene talanoas involving the Education Program, DFAT and Ministry of Education staff and other stakeholders to talk about results and how to improve Program performance. They will also lead the Program’s reporting to DFAT, writing clear, concise reports on our development results.
As a member of the broader Facility MEL team, the Specialist will contribute to the Facility’s broader MEL approach through advice on MEL tools, processes and guidance.
The Person
The candidate will have 10 years’ experience managing the development and use of MEL systems. They will be able to facilitate complex MEL processes, including evaluations and reflective processes. They will also be able to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage a wide range of relationships with the Fiji government, DFAT and other stakeholders. They will have the expertise to present performance information to senior managers, including through drafting clear reports and case studies that meet our stakeholders’ needs. The candidate will have good communication skills, advocating effectively and communicating sensitively across FHP’s different constituencies.
They will understand principles of Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and safeguarding standards including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) and Child Protection and how they are applied to MEL.
High performers with experience and skills in other areas will also be considered.
This position is locally engaged and open to National Citizens of Fiji and Pacific Islanders. The annual salary will be between FJD 66,000 and FJD 74,000 dependent on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
