Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations (UN) in Indonesia maintains a long-standing partnership with the government, private sector, civil society, and youth to advance progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the core of this collaboration is the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) — the key strategic document guiding cooperation between the UN, the host government, and other partners. The UNSDCF ensures that the UN’s support complements national development plans and aligns with global goals.
The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) serves as the central hub for coordination among UN agencies, funds, and programmes in Indonesia. Led by the Resident Coordinator (RC) — the highest-ranking UN official in the country — the RCO ensures that all UN efforts are coherent and aligned with national priorities and the SDGs.
The RCO has five core functions:
- Strategic planning
- Economics
- Partnerships and development finance
- Data and results management and reporting
- Communications and advocacy
The Partnership Support Intern will work closely with the Partnership Officer to assist in event preparation, research, documentation, communication, and coordination activities that support partnership-building efforts across the UN system in Indonesia.
The intern will contribute particularly to:
- The Disability Inclusion Workplan
- Meetings of the Indonesia UN Consultative Forum
- Preparation of the Bappenas-UN Forum
- Coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Specific tasks include:
- Facilitating inter-agency coordination and stakeholder engagement activities
- Supporting the conceptualization and drafting of documents such as Terms of Reference, concept notes, and background papers for partnership events, trainings, and workshops
- Preparing briefs, meeting minutes, and background notes on partnership-related topics
- Supporting reporting and implementation of the Disability Inclusion Workplan
- Attending on-site and online meetings and discussions with partners from various agencies and sectors
- Designing visually engaging materials, including presentations, infographics, and reports
- Managing and updating partnership databases and contact lists
- Supporting data collection, management, research, and analysis to inform background notes and documentation
- Assisting with event planning, logistics, and coordination in support of the RCO’s core functions and the UN Country Team
Qualifications / Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Additional requirements:
- No professional work experience is required, but a field of study closely related to the internship area is essential
- Applicants must be in the final year of, or have completed, a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams
- Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable
- Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable
Languages
- Fluency in English and Indonesian is required
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage

Intern Specific Text
- Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations
- Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization
