The UNOPS Hub in Amman implements projects in Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen, in partnership with bilateral donors, national governments, and other UN agencies. With an established presence across the region, the office runs operations including large-scale procurement, project development, and technical management, and provides financial, human resources, and infrastructure-related services. The functional objective of UNOPS Hub in Amman is to deliver its projects in an efficient and effective manner and in line with the principles, rules and regulations of UNOPS, in order to support the response to the current needs and national priorities in the region.
The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.

Functional ResponsibilitiesProvide support in researching potential opportunities for partnerships;
Keeping abreast of social, economic, and political trends, and provide background notes and analysis, as needed;
Support a Hub-wide donor mapping exercise;
Support identification and drafting of new projects and programmes, including concept notes and project documents;
Provide support to coordination with Programme/Project staff to share information and knowledge;
Provide support to organizing field visits for needs assessments;
Draft minutes of the meetings and follow up on action points;
Provide support to consolidation, and the finalization of narrative and financial reports;
Draft presentations to donors;
Support preparation of background notes, briefings, and other materials for the senior management;
Support development of UNOPS visibility materials, including factsheets, press releases, social media posts, etc., in close coordination with the Communications Specialist.
Perform other related duties as required.
Training components and learning elements
The incumbent will have access to project and portfolio documentation to learn about project management and development cooperation in the areas the portfolio covers. She/he has the opportunity to join official meetings and learn about UNOPS, the UN and multilateral cooperation. She/he will get exposure to key stakeholders, multi-partner donors, international non-governmental organizations and other representatives.
The incumbent will also have full access to UNOPS intranet, Google Currents/Communities of Practice (COPs) in Project Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Innovation and Research, Sustainable Infrastructure, etc
CompetenciesAcademic qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled in a university degree such as a Bachelor, Masters, or have graduated within three years prior to the application date of the internship.
The preferred candidate would have a minimum completion of the degree OR the undergraduate degree in the following fields: gender study / development studies / international relations / social science/ political science.
Internship-related experiences
Minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in project development, report writing, communications, partnerships and/or fundraising is required.
Good knowledge of the situation and challenges for development and humanitarian assistance projects in the region.
Experience in producing donor reports is an advantage..
Experience in producing visibility and social media communication products is preferred.
Excellent spoken and written English. Fluency in spoken and written Arabic.
Computer Literacy
Computer literate, in particular MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
