Functional responsibilities

Under the supervision of the UNOPS Project Manager and in close collaboration with DPPA (PMD-Innovation Cell), the incumbent will undertake the following responsibilities:

Operational and Financial Management

  • Monitor procurement and consultancy engagements, ensuring adherence to UNOPS policies and the efficient use of resources.
  • Process and monitor financial transactions for DPPA’s internal tracking, maintain accurate records, and monitor expenditures against the budget, including according to internal DPPA mechanisms, as relevant and appropriate.

Innovation Projects and Strategic Communications

  • Support the scaling of DPPA’s AI-enabled digital dialogue and other digital engagement tools, focusing on localizing these tools for field missions and capturing lessons learned.
  • Support other innovation projects as required, including their piloting, design, and implementation, in line with innovation processes and DPPA’s strategic mandate.
  • Contribute in and provide support in communications plan activity to highlight DPPA’s achievements in innovation and new technologies.
  • Support the coordination and management of communications for events and projects, ensuring alignment with DPPA’s priority areas.
  • Ensure and monitor the operational readiness of the Innovation Space, including logistical coordination, equipment upkeep, and data tracking for reporting purposes.

Capacity-Building and Training Initiatives

  • Support the delivery of the annual E-Analytics and Innovation Course, including virtual sessions, participant support, and logistical arrangements for the in-person Lab.

Partnership Development

  • Provide support and collaboration in partnership activities, ensuring alignment with DPPA’s strategic objectives.



Education/Experience/Language requirements

a. Education

  • A first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) preferably in international relations, innovation-related subjects such as innovation, behavioural science, strategic communications or in a field related to the post description with two (2) years of relevant experience is required. OR;
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in international relations, innovation-related subjects such as innovation, behavioural science, strategic communications with no relevant experience is desirable.

b. Work Experience

Required:

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in providing innovation project management support.
  • Experience in conducting training related to innovation and/or new technologies to enhance preventive diplomacy and/or mediation at an international level is required.
  • Experience in working for conflict prevention, mediation, peacebuilding or any other related areas is required.
  • Experience in donor reporting and preparing project proposals is required.

Desired experience:(The following experience and skillsare optional,candidates who do not have them are welcome to apply)

  • Experience in the use of digital engagement tools for peace and political processes is an advantage.
  • Experience working with international organizations, such as the UN, is an advantage.

c. Language:

  • Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required.
  • Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset.
