Social Media Intern – UNRIC Brussels
Work Location: UNRIC Brussels
Expected Duration: 4–6 months
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use the UNRIC Trello Boards to plan, create, and curate content ahead of time
- Collect and collate multimedia information from different departments and organizations
- Monitor various sources for new content and information about activities within and around the UN each week
- Edit and subtitle news videos for UNRIC’s social media channels using dedicated software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or Canva)
- Create visuals, quote cards, and other materials using online tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Photoshop)
- Attend press conferences, meetings, and events in Brussels to gather quotes and capture photos and videos for use in social media posts
- Draft posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Research trends and partner content, suggest retweets/reposts, and monitor social media accounts for comments and questions, flagging relevant feedback to the team
- Take an active role in live coverage of events taking place in Brussels
- Draft monthly performance reports for UNRIC’s social media accounts
- Carry out additional tasks as requested
Qualifications/Special Skills:
- Must meet one of the following requirements:

- Enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher)
- Enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
- No professional experience required, but a field of study relevant to the internship is expected
- Applicants must attach proof of eligibility (degree certificate or enrollment confirmation) and will be asked to submit an official certificate later
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English is required
- Fluency in one or more of the following is desirable: Danish, Dutch, French, Finnish, German, Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish

The United Nations Regional Information Centre (UNRIC) communicates the values, history, and mandate of the UN and its global efforts for peace, fairness, and sustainability. UNRIC engages with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil society, the media, public institutions, academia, and the private sector. It supports UN agencies in Brussels and works closely with the European Union institutions, covering 22 countries and operating in 13 languages through nine Desk Officers.
Special Notice:
- Proficiency in graphic and video editing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut) is required
- Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable
- Ability to provide photo and video coverage is desirable

Intern-Specific Terms:
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Interns or their sponsoring institutions are responsible for costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses. Those not citizens or residents of the internship country must obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization. Successful candidates should confirm visa requirements before accepting the offer.
