Internship: Communications and Multimedia (2 Positions)
Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Duration: 01 September 2025 to 28 November 2025
Duties and Responsibilities
These internship positions are located in the Communications and External Relations (CER) unit, Office of the Secretary-General at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Geneva. The CER team produces a wide array of communication materials to promote the work of UNCTAD, including digital media, social content, infographics, and publications.
- This is a full-time, unpaid internship under the United Nations Internship Programme.
- Interns are expected to work five days per week (40 hours).
- A valid visa and medical insurance for the duration of the internship in Switzerland are required.
- All travel, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
- Interns will be supervised by a senior colleague and contribute to multimedia content production and communication-related tasks.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting in the creation, editing, and production of multimedia content (videos, podcasts, infographics, social media posts).
- Supporting live coverage of events and conferences through photography, videography, and audio recording.
- Assisting in post-production using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, and Canva.
- Contributing to social media by producing engaging content and supporting digital campaigns.
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely and accurate multimedia outputs.
- Archiving multimedia assets and maintaining the multimedia library.
- Participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions for content planning.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
General UN Internship Responsibilities:
- Observe all UN rules, procedures, and directives.
- Provide the UN with a copy of all materials prepared; all intellectual property rights belong to the UN.
- Maintain impartiality and independence; do not accept instructions from external parties.
- Do not disclose confidential information without written authorization.
- Refrain from conduct that reflects poorly on the UN or contradicts its values.
Qualifications/Special Skills
- A university degree in media, communications, graphic/multimedia design, journalism, public relations, international studies, photography, or a related field is required.
- The following skills are highly desirable:

- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva.
- Strong interest in multimedia production, including video, audio, and social media content.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English.
- Knowledge of French or another UN language is an asset.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content trends (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.).
Education Eligibility:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Be enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or PhD program.
- Submit proof of enrollment or graduation (official certificate may be required later).

Languages
- English fluency (spoken and written) is required.
- French or Spanish is an advantage.
Additional Information for Interns
- UN internships are not paid.
- Interns are responsible for all costs associated with travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.
