Job Description
Chemonics seeks a Recruiter to join the UK Divsion based in the UK. The role of the Recruiter involves working across functions within the United Kingdom Division (UKD), sourcing and hiring for head office roles. In addition, you will be responsible for providing recruitment best practice guidance to the whole of the UKD, managing our Applicant Tracking System (ATS, Taleo), and offering additional support and guidance around diversity best practice as it relates to recruitment. By sourcing and engaging with some of the world’s leading international development talent, your role will be at the forefront of ensuring that Chemonics is able to provide the right talent to the right areas for the programmes we are managing. This role will also support proposal and programmatic roles as needed. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the creation and management of UKD requisitions, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing qualified candidates.
- Screens and vets’ candidates to include salary negotiations serving as subject matter expert and point of contact.
- Works in partnership with hiring managers to determine hiring needs, candidate matches and demands of positions.
- Recommends strategies to streamline systems for effectiveness and efficiency in recruitment processes.
- Implements recruitment best practices, ensuring we are capturing the best qualified candidates and keeping in line with industry trends.
- Proactively recruits qualified professionals through many different sources including referrals, direct contact recruiting, job boards, Internet mining, and networking events.
- Performs day-to-day recruitment support activities consistent with understanding rules for applicant tracking, UK rules and regulations, and Chemonics operating policies and procedures.
- Promotes staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities.
- Maintains knowledge in own discipline and begins to expand versatility in international development work by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies and Chemonics’ practice networks.
- Contributes to technical practice and/or working group of relevance to areas of interest and/or procurement and supply chain management; shares information and best practices learned with the program and the company.
- Participates in new business efforts and mentors others.
- Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, fostering innovation and exceeding expectations.
- Assists with developing and delivering training to staff on compliant recruitment practices.
- Coordinates UK recruitment processes, in close collaboration with the HR and Operations team, in response to talent acquisition needs for the UK Business Line. Works with HR to advise on appropriate hiring mechanisms for employing staff both in the UK and overseas.
- Works closely with the compensation team to level new job descriptions and determine appropriate salary ranges while ensuring consistency with Chemonics policies and procedures.
- Ensures talent acquisition process is compliant with fundamental Human Resource (HR) principles and UK requirements.
- Provides input on strategies to streamline systems to increase effectiveness and efficiency in talent acquisition processes.
- May support new business capture and proposal recruitment as necessary as well as project recruitment
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Preferred degree educated up to undergraduate in relevant subjects such as Human Resources, Business Management, International Development and/or relations. Combination of work experience and education will also be considered
- Specific recruitment training with CIPD or similar global professional body would be an advantage.
- Experience working internationally, ideally within Africa, the Middle East or Asia is desirable.
- Commercial mindset with previous experience in understanding wider team budgets and salary impact.
- Able to work in a matrixed environment to partner with different teams and business units across the organisation.
- Knowledge and comprehensive experience of managing complex recruitment for projects to short deadlines.
- Ability to mentor and coach less experienced staff in recruiting and interviewing methods.
- Previous experience recruiting for FCDO or other UK Government departments or European bilateral donors would be a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings
- Fluency in Spanish, French or Arabic desired
- Willingness to work overseas for up to 4-8 weeks per year and to consider long-term overseas assignments
- UK work authorization or ability to obtain it required.
12 Months Fixed Term Contract with possible extension
