Job Description – Internship Programme (AVRR Project, İstanbul)

Internship Programme Overview:
The IOM Internship Programme attracts talented students and recent graduates with a specific interest in areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and have less than two years of relevant work experience.

Eligible interns typically:

  • Have a specific interest in, or academic background related to, IOM programmes and activities.
  • Hold a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations, or require an internship to complete their studies.
  • Are sponsored by governmental, non-governmental institutions, or academic bodies to work in areas relevant to IOM and the sponsor.
  • Are enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor’s level) or have graduated within the last 12 months.
  • Are between 20 and 36 years of age.

Supervision:
The intern will work under the overall direction of the National Programme Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate in İstanbul, assisting with the operational activities of the Mission.

Learning Objectives and Responsibilities:
The intern will:

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of day-to-day activities, as well as administrative and financial processes, of the AVRR project(s).
  • Assist in organizing workshops, meetings, and conferences; coordinate service delivery with finance and procurement units; and provide translation/interpretation support for AVRR counsellors.
  • Coordinate in-person AVRR application intakes and external referrals, maintain appointment schedules for AVRR counselling, and ensure completion of necessary forms, documentation, and data entry into MİMOSA, in accordance with IOM standards.
  • Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyze, and present information or data on project-specific topics.
  • Provide feedback on additional needs or gaps in referral protocols and assistance measures for AVRR beneficiaries.
  • Participate in relevant trainings and workshops to support capacity-building of partners in identifying, referring, and assisting AVRR beneficiaries.
  • Support evaluation of the effectiveness of assistance provided to AVRR beneficiaries in Türkiye.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or graduated within the last 12 months.

Languages:

  • Mandatory: English and Turkish.
  • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process through written and/or oral assessments.
