Job Description
Chemonics seeks a Sr. Manager, Retirement Plan to work closely with corporate to oversee the administration, design, education, and communication of retirement plans for Chemonics employees. This includes the 401(k), Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), non-qualified deferred compensation plan, and Enterprise Value Unit plan for eligible executives. The senior manager serves as project manager for new plan implementation and/or modification and oversees plan compliance, Non-Discrimination testing, annual audit, and Form 5500 completion. The senior manager coordinates project plans for plan design changes, investment change/mapping implementations, investment and plan communications, and serves as coordinator for the ESOP Admin Committee as well as the 401(k) Committee. Responsibilities include:
- Research, evaluate, and recommend improvements to retirement programs by working closely with vendors to achieve the best total rewards program.
- Manage the design and administration of all retirement plans
- Lead a team of highly skilled professionals tasked with ensuring smooth and compliant day-to-day operations of all plans. This includes overseeing procedures for transmitting demographic and contribution files to the vendor from multiple payroll sources, as applicable
- Coordinate and attend quarterly ESOP Administrative and 401(k) committee meetings, ensuring that minutes are taken, and all tasks between meetings are complete
- Develop and manage the annual workplan and timeline for all retirement plan activities, including data collection, file remittance, audits, distributions, testing, filings and employee communications
- Develop the communication and education strategy for retirement plans and financial well-being; prepare and deliver presentations to all employee levels, including executives when needed
- Manage relationships with consultants and vendors to optimize their productivity and performance
- Partner with other business units to identify employee benefit needs, support programs, and process improvement opportunities
- Responsible for compliance management, including but not limited to overseeing: 401(k)/ESOP 5500 filings, annual legal notice distribution and/or posting, non-discrimination testing, and regular plan audits as they related to retirement programs
- Define team roles and responsibilities clearly and concisely, promote strategies for effective teamwork and leadership development, and cultivate collaborative working relationships across the company
- Develop and evaluate assigned staff ensuring they receive the opportunity to grow professionally
- Develop metrics and reporting to ensure program effectiveness and plan design
- Ensure proper reconciliation of retirement plan payroll deductions, and collection of employee data are performed appropriately, as well as compliance with appropriate laws, policies, and practices
- Interpret appropriate policies and regulations to provide internal policy guidance and individualized support
- Provide consultative expertise, advice, and guidance regarding retirement plan matters to the Director, Total Rewards and appropriate executive committees
- Communicate policies, practices, and guidelines effectively to all levels of the organization
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with ERISA plans, and a minimum of 2 years of experience managing teams
- Experience working with an ESOP preferred
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem-solving
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain discretion and work with highly confidential and/or protected information required
- Ability to multitask with strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
