Job Description
The Senior Project Accountant is a member of the Finance Team, and the primary responsibilities include the following:
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM), regarding contract documents, contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing.
- Prepare invoice package containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for approval by the Project Manager and Director of Finance.
- Send out final invoice file to client.
- Maintain the billing folders for all projects, with all the appropriate documents, including expenses, consultant invoices, subcontract invoices, and monthly invoices, in accordance with standard procedures.
- Monitor cash receipts and follow up with PMs in case a payment delay (over 30 days).
- Review Work In Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) monthly.
- Communicate and coordinate with the local offices
- Review and book monthly field office expenses
- Support field offices with accounting system set-up and maintenance.
- Review project/field office accounting policies and procedures.
- Set up new projects in accounting software.
- Provide audit support for internal and external audits (including DCAA), work with auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules, provide documents, etc.
- Work on month-end and year-end closing activities including journal entry
- Review/posting, balance sheet/cash account reconciliations.
- Provide year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconcilement.
- Oversee government quarterly reporting and financial filings (e.g., FFR/SF425 Reports).
- Supervisor Project Accountant
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience required Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and complete multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
- Fluency in Foreign language and ability to work in multi-culture setting is plus.
Computer Skills
- Advanced computer proficiency; advanced skills in Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) or Deltek Costpoint preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably with a government contractor working with USAID.
US Work authorization required.
